College Representative Visits

Every year, a large number of colleges and universities from all over the country visit MCHS. One benefit of attending these college visits is that, generally, the college representative is the person assigned to high schools in Southern California. In many cases, this is the person who will be reviewing your application once it is submitted. Meeting with a college representative is a great way to make a positive first impression.

Prepare in Advance

Before the college representative arrives, research that college or university and come prepared with questions not easily answered by looking at the website. Examples include: the amount of interaction between students and professors, whether it is difficult for students to find research opportunities, and how the student advising system works.

List of Visiting College Representatives

A list of visiting college admission representatives appears on Naviance, in the Daily Bulletin, and in the CCC. The schedule is updated periodically, so check back often.

Use Naviance to sign up for college representative visits as follows:

  • Sign into Family Connection
  • Click "Visit Schedule"
  • Click sign up adjacent to the visits you want
  • Click the "Sign Me Up" button

Procedure for Attending College Representative Presentations

It is the student's responsibility to become aware of the dates of the presentations by college representatives and to sign up in advance. Be sure to sign up at least one day in advance. You will also need to get a form from the CCC, which must be signed by your teacher, to be excused from class during that period. Finally, make sure you arrive to the presentation on time. Be courteous, and thank the representative for coming.
